SEMPER AD MELIORA - ALWAYS TOWARDS BETTER THINGS

Shooting

Loaded and ready...

Shooting in the Air Cadets, especially here at 1340 Squadron, is one of the most popular cadet activities. We are lucky to have some of the most highly trained and experienced range officers and weapon instructors in our wing, with over 50 years of experience to draw upon, which allows us to really bring the best out of all the cadets.

As a cadet you can expect to be getting to grips with the .22 target rifle on our indoor range pretty soon after training, after that there is the L98A2 rifle which is the cadet version of the 5.56mm L85A2 currently used by the British forces. And if you really like it that much, there is always the chance to use the L81A2 target rifle, all 7.62mm of powerful accuracy, this is fired at targets up to 600m away.

Shooting is fun, safe and controlled. The ranges are run by experienced qualified instructors who conduct them in a safe and professional manner. Who knows, you may be a complete natural and be shooting better than William Tell on your first go!
